Worldwide 2016 has been…let’s say interesting! At Stoats HQ we’ve had a brilliant year and want to say a big Thank You to everyone for being a part of it. 11 years on from Tony and Bob serving porridge at music festivals and farmers’ markets, Stoats has built a loyal fan base of our oaty range across the world.
Some highlights from the year have to include the new additions to our range. Our Porridge Sachets – the perfect proportions of porridge for the perfect bowl of porridge are great for when you’re at work or just in a rush (like most of us, everyday). We listened to those who said ‘sometimes I just don’t feel like porridge’ and as we picked ourselves off the floor from shock at such as statement (we jest) we developed our award-winning Hedgerow Muesli and limited edition Toasted Oaty Flakes. Perfect for when the weather gets a little warmer but you still want to enjoy hearty wholegrain oats and be full until lunch.
More and more people are discovering Stoats across the UK with new listings in Morrisons, Co-op and Booths to name a few. And events such as the Great Yorkshire Show and BBC Good Food Shows allowed people to try our products and meet the team. Top two favourite products had to be our Raspberry & Honey Oat Bar and Stoatcakes, perfect for the biscuit tin at home or for lunches at work as an alternative to bread.
We were proud to be official partner of World Porridge Day in October supporting the work of Mary’s Meals. On social media we saw hundreds of #porridgesmiles all raising awareness and funds for this amazing charity. Just £2 can provide a child with school meals in their place of education for a whole month and you can still donate with a simple text – OATS16 £2 to 70070.
As we look to 2017 we’re saying move over hygge, we’re all about another Swedish way of approaching life – lagom. Lagom means “adequate,” “just right,” or “in balance”, encouraging modesty and teamwork and discourages extremes. Bringing a little lagom into your life can even save you money – keep your house at the just the right temperature, turn off devices when you’re not using them, make a little food plan for the week before you go to the supermarket and maybe not just buy that 5th pair of jeans if you don’t really need them. Apt for us, even Goldilocks lived the lagom way ‘not too hot, not too cold… just right’.
But let’s wait until January before we start all that! Until then it’s all about piling as much good stuff onto our morning bowl of porridge as possible – pass the Terry’s Chocolate Orange.
Have a great Christmas and if you’re in Edinburgh on the 1st January come along and see us at the Stoats Loony Dook!
