What could possibly improve a bowl of hot creamy porridge? Chocolate of course! These porridge spoons make for a fabulous way to brighten up your everyday porridge, transforming your oats with a mere dunk and stir. Milk chocolate, dark chocolate and white chocolate all work amazingly, and the additional flavours are totally up to you! We’ve tried everything including dried chilli flakes, toasted nuts, white chocolate shavings, coffee granules, dried cherry and roasted pumpkin seed, so the possibilities are truly endless.
Ingredients (for 6-8 tablespoons)
6-8 tablespoons or dessert spoons
200 grams chocolate of choice
1 tablespoon butter
Extra ingredients of choice (such as freeze-dried fruit, dried coconut, seeds and nuts)
Hot fresh porridge (to serve)
In a microwave, or over a pan of boiling water, gently melt all your chocolate together with the butter until glossy and completely dissolved.
Fill each spoon with the mixture, then sprinkle over your other ingredients to set into the wet surface.
Place the spoons in the fridge for half an hour to firm up.
Cook up a bowl of hot fresh porridge, dunk the spoon into the oats, and stir to dissolve the chocolate amongst the porridgy goodness.
